I was going to spend this Sunday with a break from social media, give a bit back to the people who support me most (the little dudes in the picture) then I decided (rightly or wrongly) to reflect on my 'why' and how you can turn your 'why' into a deadly weapon to be used.
If you haven't read Simon Sinek's 'Start With Why', do - its' great. Here is my take on the book and how their are some takeaway tips for us deal packagers and in life in general:
1. It Starts With Why: Your why is your purpose, people can often describe what they do or how they do it but why is a rare beast - find it in you and in others - it will give you clarity and your business identity.
2. Marketing: Exhibiting your 'why' to others will market yourself more effectively - 'people don't buy what you do, they buy why you do it' - ultimately investors are investing in you, it also avoids you being lumped in with 'just another deal packager': People are drawn to individuals and organisations who are good at communicating what they believe - people buy that.
3. Getting Leads: Uncovering a vendor's true 'why' (or motivation) behind selling - you've unlocked the power in which you can make them unlock it further. 4. Discovering Investor Needs: Finding your investor's why is critical to knowing what they want to get out of your services long term. Trust is built when the organisation is driven beyond its own self-gain.
I would like to end today's post with sharing my own 'whys':
A. My organisation's primary 'why': to increase the wealth of our investors and to help solve their financial problems through the vehicle of property.
B. My personal 'why': [see photo]
Task for the day: write down your 'why'.
